Bike Geekery

This section includes some articles about the bikes and kit that I’ve used on my travels, as well as some of the trickier sections of my route around the world.

Bikes:

The Original Beast (Aluminium Round-the-world adventure tourer)

The Replacement ‘Beastlet’ (Steel Drop-Bar adventure tourer)

Choices / options when building or buying a touring bike – with examples from my two bikes

Kit:

I’m getting to the point where I feel I can make some constructive comments about the kit and paraphernalia of bike touring.  These articles will appear here when I get round to writing them.

Central Asia Desert Notes:

The desert areas of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan can be tough (and even dangerous at certain times of year).  I collected together some notes from my crossings (March / April 2016).  These notes can be found here.
